LOVELAND, OH (May 17, 2024) – Giovanni Ricci signed a free agent deal with the Cleveland Browns in mid-March.

Giovanni visited on Loveland Beacon Talks:         Sports Special to talk about it.

The former LHS Tiger is coming home to Ohio wearing the Browns jersey #44. He was part of the Tiger Ohio State Football Championship team at Loveland High School and makes his home here in the Loveland area. That is enough to make it exciting for the NFL veteran coming home to Ohio, but he has a lot of family (on his mom’s side) from the Cleveland area. Yes they are big Browns fans and very excited to have Giovanni joining the Browns family.

Giovanni talked about what went into his decision to sign with Cleveland after entering the free-agent market following 4 season with the Carolina Panthers. He’s excited about the opportunity to play in what is arguably the strongest division in the NFL – the AFC North Division. He’s probably most excited about the opportunity to play the Cincinnati Bengals twice each year.

With the release of the 2024 NFL schedule just two days ago, Giovanni has already heard from friends about the Browns v Bengals match-up just before Christmas – a Thursday Night Football primetime game. Just as a side note, that #44 Browns jersey he’ll be wearing has some great history with Leroy Kelly maybe the most noted Browns player to don the 44, but it has a local tie also with Norwood’s star running back Marc Edwards having worn the #44 while he was with the Browns.

Next up for Giovanni is the May OTA camp beginning Tuesday, May 21, and then it will be prepping for pre-season camp in July.
