Fun with Maps ISSUE 2025-067
By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)
LOVELAND, OH (April 11, 2025) – In today’s edition of Fun with Maps, we share a short story of an average man with a big legacy.
Napoleon
We start off with busting the myth that Napoleon Bonaparte was short. He was average height for his days.
He was born on the island of Corsica to a family that was Italian, and not French.
Napoleon was an average student at military school, but a fantastic military leader.
After his failed Russian campaign and defeat at Belgian Waterloo, he was exiled to the Italian island of Elba on April 11, 1814.
Munster’s map of Elba is presented here from 1598.
