We take it for granted that we can listen to our favorite tunes whenever we want to.  That was not always the case.  First came the player piano in public establishments, then the jukebox.

131 years ago today the first jukebox was put in service at the Palais Royale Saloon in San Francisco. You could listen to your favorite tunes for only a nickel.
