LOVELAND, OH (October 19, 2020)  – The Loveland Tigers earned a #3 seed for the sectional soccer tournament with a 10-2-3 season record including a first place finish in the Easter Cincinnati Conference with a 6-1-1 record in league play.

Their opponent for first round sectional action is Withrow – also known as the Tigers – coming in to first round action as the #31 seed. As a Cincinnati Public School, Withrow had a late start to a much-shorter soccer season this fall finishing with a 2-3-1 overall record and 0-1-0 in the Cincinnati Metro Conference.

The two Tiger teams did not meet on the soccer pitch this fall, but shared one common opponent during the season. Loveland defeated Winton Woods 1-0 on Saturday, October 10, while Withrow suffered a 9-1 loss at the hands of Winton Woods earlier in the season.

Loveland closed out regular season action with that 1-0 win over Winton Woods followed by a season finale 1-1 tie with Lebanon. Withrow won their last two contests 2-1 over Purcell-Marian and 8-1 over Clark Montessori – both non-conference opponents.

In what appears to be an odd quirk in sectional tournament scheduling, the winner of the match tonight between the two Tiger teams will go on the road to play at winless (0-15) #32 seed Mt. Healthy on Thursday evening, October 22.

Game time tonight at Tiger Stadium in Loveland is 7 p.m. Watch here on Loveland Beacon for results from the game tonight between the #3 seed Loveland Tigers and #31 seed Withrow Tigers.

Girls Soccer Sectionals get underway Tuesday, October 20.

Loveland Girls are seeded #2 and enjoy a first-round bye, but will play the winner of Tuesday’s Edgewood vs. West Clermont game. Loveland will host that game Saturday, 10/24.
