LOVELAND, OH (November 20, 2022) – Drew Plitt has one more special thing for which to be thankful on this Thursday, Thanksgiving Day 2023. His Father, Steve Plitt confirmed for Loveland Beacon Drew has officially signed with the Cincinnati Bengals today. (NOTE: Corrected story shows Plitt will serve on Bengals Practice Squad as backup to A.J. McCarron who backs up Jake Browning)

The Loveland High School grad helped lead the Tigers to a Ohio State HS Football championship and has continued his journey playing QB at the college level, and professionally in the XFL. He will now serve as a backup to A.J. McCarron who will backup Bengal quarterback Jake Browning who is the starting QB in light of the season-ending wrist injury to the Bengals franchise quarterback Joe Burrow.

Plitt played quarterback during his high school football career right here at Loveland High School. He went on to play college football with the Ball State Cardinals (2016-2021). Locals will remember Drew signed with the Bengals during 2022 training camp while Joe Burrow was recovering from an appendectomy. He made his NFL debut in a preseason game going 6 for 6 passing with his first NFL touchdown pass highlighting a 76 yard scoring drive for the Bengals. Ultimately his first stint with the Bengals ended with him being waived.

After being waived, Drew Plitt remained resolute in his efforts to continue playing professional football and signed with the Arlington Renegades of the XFL. He played QB there during the 2023 XFL season.

Now, Plitt has come full circle back home to Cincinnati where he will have an opportunity to continue his professional football career as backup quarterback to A.J. McCarron who backs up Jake Browning for the remainder of the 2023/24 Cincinnati Bengals football season.

Loveland Beacon has reached out to Drew in hopes of having him share his story with us on LOVELAND BEACON TALKS. As you can imagine, he is quite busy getting acclimated, once again, to play quarterback with the Cincinnati Bengals.
