By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)
LOVELAND, OH (November 10, 2022) – In Issue 2022-200 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, we wonder how quickly you identified this TV series?
Cookie Monster
Can you name this TV series – Ran for 53 seasons (not years), had 4626 episodes, was the first programming with educational elements for the target audience, 95% of the target audience were watching it (1996 data), and was broadcasted in over 20 countries…
It opens with the line: “Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?”
Oops, just gave it away, but then you most likely knew it is Sesame Street.
The show was conceived in 1966, and it first aired on November 10, 1969.
It gave us many memorable characters, including Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Ernie, Bert and Elmo.
And THIS TUNE from Kermit…
In honor of Queens, New York, where Sesame Street was filmed, here is Colton’s map of New York from 1876.
