CINCINNATI, OH (January 30, 2021) – Save a life this Groundhog Day – Donate Blood at Hoxworth Blood Centers.
Whether you’re looking forward to spring or hoping for a few more weeks of winter, you can celebrate Groundhog Day by saving a life with Hoxworth Blood Center!
Hoxworth invites all eligible blood donors (and their shadows) to donate blood at a Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Center between Friday, Jan. 29 and Tuesday, Feb. 2. All donors will get a limited-edition Groundhog t-shirt.
“Whether or not Punxatawney Phil sees his shadow this year, the need for blood donors will be ongoing,” said Alecia Lipton, Hoxworth spokesperson. “And if we have six more weeks of winter in our future, we will need extra help from donors, since winter weather and flu season can negatively impact donor turnout and our blood supply. We hope that this fun t-shirt will inspire our community to roll up a sleeve while we wait for spring!”

Hoxworth Blood Center is the only steward of the blood supply in the Tri-State area. Lipton added that the blood center needs to collect at least 450 units of blood every day to meet the demand of more than 30 area hospitals.
Appointments are encouraged to maintain proper social distancing, and masks are required of all donors. To schedule a donation, call Hoxworth at 513-451-0910 or visit www.hoxworth.org.
