FUN WITH MAPS ISSUE 2024-205

By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)

LOVELAND, OH (Veterans Day-November 11, 2024) – In this edition of Fun with Maps we learn about the roots of Veterans Day which was formerly known as Armistice Day.

VETERANS DAY

Today is Veterans Day in the US and in many other countries.  It recognizes those serving and have served in the military, as well as those who died during service.

The date is based on the end of World War 1, November 11, 1918.

Humans are rather war-like and managed to kill others during wars to the tune of upwards of 400 million in the past 2000 years.

Veterans have put their life on the line to present a strong deterrent from future conflicts.

Salute to the veterans.
