The annual St. Columban Veteran’s Day celebration is coming
By Chuck Gibson
LOVELAND, OH (October 27, 2023) – On Veteran’s Day, every year for over 20 years, the St. Columban 7th & 8th grade students parade from St. Columban School down into Historic Downtown Loveland waving the American Flag all the way to the Veteran’s Memorial site at Riverside Dr. and W. Loveland Avenue. Not this year!

Chad Drinnen, current Assistant Principal of the school, has organized the students each year for the march down to the Veteran’s Memorial and the ceremony honoring the veterans which followed. It was always a special day for the local veterans as local dignitaries joined the students in honoring their service to our country. Most years the weather cooperated for the outdoor celebration although sometimes it called for warm coats, hats and even mittens (ok, gloves). Once in a while the rain fell and moved the celebration indoors at St. Columban. That was the case one year ago. So, there’s been a change for the program

“This year we are going to have the annual Veteran’s Day program at school in our gym on November 10th at 11:00 a.m. The veterans last year said they liked being in the gym so they could sit down and the entire school could be part of the program.” – Chad Drinnen, Assistant Principal, St. Columban School
Veterans, please come to St. Columban to be recognized at this special celebration. Everyone who is not a veteran, please come to help honor and recognize those who have served or are serving our country in the armed services. The students do a terrific job each year celebrating the men and women who have served our country.
