FUN WITH MAPS – ISSUE 2022-202 DAILY FEATURE:

By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)

LOVELAND, OH (November 14, 2022) – In Issue 2022-202 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, we celebrate the birthday of the long-awaited King.

His Royal Majesty

He is celebrating his 74th birthday today.  He is a king now having ascended to the throne on September 8, 2022, after being the longest heir apparent in his country’s history.

He is Charles III of Great Britain.

For the most part he stayed on a narrow path performing his royal duties since he was a child.  The exception being, of course, the murky relationship with Camilla while still married to the much-loved and much younger Diana.  Charles did marry Camilla after he and Diana parted.

Having a new king is an expensive matter in Britain – new currency, stamps, mailboxes, etc. will have to be made carrying his image, replacing Queen Elizabeth II.

As his mother did, Charles loves spending time in Scotland, at Belmoral Castle in the Highlands.  Thus, we present here Tallis’s map of Scotland from 1851, two years prior to the start of construction on the very new, by European standards, Belmoral Castle.
