FUN WITH MAPS – ISSUE 2021-186 DAILY FEATURE:

By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)

LOVELAND, OH (September 27, 2021) – In Issue 2021-186 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, we become tourists for a day.

WORLD TOURISM DAY

Since 1980, September 27th has been celebrated as World Tourism Day.

Although cut back tremendously for the last year and a half, tourism employs 1 out of every 10 people globally.  It not only creates jobs, but also promotes local culture and products.

As the United Nations World Tourism Organization celebrates today, where is the next place you would like to visit?

Here is Mercator’s striking double-hemisphere world map from 1587.
