ISSUE 135 – STEVE KOVACS FUN WITH MAPS

DAILY FEATURE: By Steve Kovacs (Introduction by Chuck Gibson)

LOVELAND, OH (December 23, 2020) – In Issue 135 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps there’s a land distribution.

Federal District

Maryland became smaller on this day in 1788 upon agreeing to donate 10 sq. mi. of land to Uncle Sam and more a few years later.  Virginia also donated land to this new federal district, but Virginia’s land was returned by an Act of Congress in 1846.

This federal district is now known as Washington, District of Columbia.
