LOVELAND, OH (October 25, 2020)  – The Loveland girls soccer team started their postseason play on a winning note Saturday night at Tiger Stadium in Loveland defeating the West Clermont Wolves 1-0 in OHSAA Southwest Sectional action.

It was a chilly night, but Loveland warmed the crowd with a goal off the foot of senior Lauren Donovan near the middle of the first-half. The goal from Donovan was shot low near post out of reach of the scrambling West Clermont keeper Jordan Riffle. It gave the Tigers a 1-0 first half lead which proved to be all they needed for the victory in a hard-fought low scoring match.

Loveland seemed to have an edge throughout the match and created numerous scoring chances during the second half. Jordan Riffle, Wolves keeper was kept pretty busy chasing Tiger shots and making several saves to keep her team within one goal. Some shots went high, some went wide, but Riffle always seemed to be in the right place to stop shots on frame and keep the ball out of the net.

There was one exception which looked like a sure Tiger goal and a 2-0 lead on a ball that got past Riffle. It bounced off the posts and dangerously close to the line, but failed to cross the line and no Tiger goal was scored.

As the score remained 1-0 in favor of Loveland, the Tigers and Wolves traded ball possessions and scoring attacks, but the Loveland defenders turned away every West Clermont offensive push without any real scoring chance.

Tiger keeper Eva Dudeck was up to the task gobbling up any balls that got past her defenders and safely clearing it away. In the end, the scoreboard told the tale of another Loveland girls soccer win and a 1-0 shutout.
