The popular musical tells the story of Gypsy Rose Lee, the epitome of a “backstage mom”, her dreams and efforts to get her two daughters to perform onstage. It casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life. The character of the eldest daughter Louise is based on Lee, and the character of June is based on Lee’s younger sister, better known as June Havoc in adult life.
Baby Louise is played by Ella Kiel and the adult Louise is played by Bonnie Emmer. Baby June is played by Lauren Fritzche and Sophie Viselhoman portrays Dainty June.
