“Gypsy” is set to open Friday, March 6, and will continue through March 22, on stage at the Loveland Stage Company Theatre. The theatre is located at 111 South 2nd Street (S.R-48) in Loveland, 45140.
The popular musical tells the story of Gypsy Rose Lee, the epitome of a “backstage mom”, her dreams and efforts to get her two daughters to perform onstage. It casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life. The character of the eldest daughter Louise is based on Lee, and the character of June is based on Lee’s younger sister, better known as June Havoc in adult life.
Baby Louise is played by Ella Kiel and the adult Louise is played by Bonnie Emmer. Baby June is played by Lauren Fritzche and Sophie Viselhoman portrays Dainty June.
Lisa Breithaupt portrays Rose, the mother. Larry Harmon is Herbie, the agent and boyfriend.
“Gypsy” is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, “Gypsy: Memoirs of America’s Most Celebrated Stripper”, but is rated a family friendly PG with no adult themes on stage.
Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 7:30 p.m. on March 6, 7, 13,14,20 and 21. Sunday matinees performances are at 3 p.m. on March 8,15 and 22.
