Two from Cross Country and two from Girls Soccer

LOVELAND, OH (September 14, 2020) – Loveland High School Athletes posted strong performances last week earning them top recognition as “Athlete of the Week” in the Eastern Cincinnati conference.

From the world of Cross Country at the Mason Invitational during the weekend, Junior Ryan Chevalier (Boys XC) and Junior Sarah Madix (Girls XC) turned in outstanding performances for the Tigers on the trail. Chevalier came from behind to win the individual title at the Mason Invitational. He posted the fastest time of the day among 381 Division I competitors with a time of 16:14. Madix posted a time of 19:32 on a day when only four (4) girls of the 347 competing in Division I were able to record times under 20 minutes. Sarah’s time was second fastest among all her competition.

From the pitch of Girls Soccer, Sophomores Ava Webb and Brooke Hatfield helped lead the Lady Tigers to wins over Milford (3-0) and Sycamore (2-1) during the week earning them both ECC “Athlete of the Week” honors. Webb had an exceptional game on defense stopping the Milford attack and joining the offensive attack against the Eagles. She has been a key factor in the four Tiger shutouts in their first five games after switching to defender from the midfield position she played as a freshman last season. Hatfield continues to be a force on offense for the Tigers scoring two more goals during the week bringing her team-leading total to five goals in five games. She led the team in scoring as a Freshman and is a threat to score every time she touches the ball.

The Lady Tigers soccer team is undefeated at 5-0-0 and sits atop the ECC at 2-0-0. A busy week ahead will see them visit Little Miami Tuesday, host Kings on Thursday, and travel to Mason on Saturday.   

TIGER TRACKS:

FOOTBALL: The Tigers first road game of the season at Milford last Friday, September 11, was cancelled due to a Milford COVID case. In other ECC Football action Friday, 9/11, Kings beat Middletown 34-13, Winton Woods downed West Clermont 28-13, Turpin rolled over Little Miami 44-8, and Anderson got past Lebanon 38-20.  The Tigers will are looking to post their first win of the 2020 Football season in a homecoming matchup with Little Miami this Friday, September 18, @ 7 p.m. Loveland is 0-2 overall and in the conference after two home games to start the season.

Boys Soccer: The Tigers dropped their only match of the week at Milford last Thursday, 2-1. The match scheduled at Sycamore Saturday was postponed. The Boys Soccer team opens a busy week on the pitch at home Tuesday against Little Miami before visiting Kings Thursday, and they’ll finish out the week back on the home pitch against Mason. After the first five games, they are 3-1-1 overall and in third place in the ECC with a 1-1-0 conference record.  

Girls Volleyball  is home today (Monday, 9/14) against Little Miami. They have matches on Tuesday and Thursday as well; @ Anderson Tuesday, and home versus Kings Thursday. Matches start @ 6:30 p.m.

Boys Golf: Monday: Alter Invitational at Miami Valley G.C. and Tuesday:3:30 Tee off at Shaker Run G.C. versus Lebanon. The Boys lead the ECC with a 6-0 record and are 7-0 overall on the season so far.

Girls Golf: Lady Tigers tee it up @ 3:24 p.m. at Eagles Nest G.C. versus Little Miami. The girls are 1-4 after the first five matches of the season.

Girls Tennis: The Loveland Lady Tigers tennis team is hosting Indian Hill at home today (Monday, 9/14), on the courts at Lebanon Tuesday, and host St. Ursula at home on Wednesday. They are 10-2 overall and sit in third place at 3-2 in ECC tennis standings.

 Cross Country: Both Boys and Girls XC next run in the Kings Duals Meet October 10, at Kingswood Park. The following week, October 17, Loveland’s Home of the Brave Park course will be the site of the ECC Championship.
