LOVELAND, OH (July 28, 2022) – The Cincinnati Bengals today announced the signing of Drew Plitt to their 90 man roster.

The announcement comes on the heels of news Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow underwent appendix surgery Tuesday and will miss some time as training camp gets underway for the defending AFC Champion Bengals. Less than a year ago, Drew Plitt was preparing to enter his final college football season with the Ball State Cardinals as a pre-season “Watch List” candidate for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. He said then: “The pre-season awards are great, they’re cool, but they don’t have much meaning.”  He talked about how a lot can happen in a 12-game college season and how his focus is on winning games as a team.

A lot didn’t happen the way Plitt hoped for the Ball State Cardinals football team in 2021. They finished the season with a “Bowl Eligible” overall 6-6 won-loss record while going 4-4 in the MAC. His final college football season closed out with a loss to Georgia State on Christmas Day in the Camelia Bowl at Montgomery, Alabama. It was not what the former Loveland High School state football champion envisioned for his final college game, but his hopes reached beyond that final college season.

Plitt knew the challenges he faced before the 2021 season started. He recognized the amount of hard work it takes to achieve success at that level. He understood that work, leading to that success would be a huge factor in determining an opportunity to compete at the next level; to compete for a place on a pro football roster. Here is how he put it heading into the 2021 season with the Ball State Cardinals.

“I just gotta go out and play my game. If I do that, playing at the next level is a real option,” Plitt said then.  “My goal is to do that. It has always been a dream of mine. I’m chasing my dreams and living them out.”

Drew Plitt may not have been drafted, but he continued to chase his dream of playing at the next level trying out with the Bengals. Today, the dream remains alive for Drew Plitt after signing with his hometown Cincinnati Bengals. He plans to make the most of this opportunity.
