LOVELAND, OH (December 20, 2021) –Loveland has been awarded an Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR)  NatureWorks Grant to fund the construction of a new gazebo in Nisbet Park.

Construction of the new gazebo will be the first development piece of the new Nisbet Park Master Plan for redesign of the park situated along side the Scenic Little Miami River Trail in Loveland, OH. The plan calls for this gazebo to be larger than the previous one which had fallen into a state of disrepair requiring replacement. The new one will be big enough to host concerts, family parties and weddings.

The proposed  gazebo project is fully funded. The ODNR grant of $85,000 combined with a $30,000 local match from the city will$85,000 grant will meet the total estimated $115,000 cost of the project. City staff is currently meeting with gazebo designers to present plans to the Recreation Board at an upcoming meeting.

According to a release from the City of Loveland earlier today, Nisbet Park is arguably the City of Loveland’s most used park. According to a 202 study by the Friends of the Little Miami State Park, 125,258 users passed through the area on the bike trail alone. That’s without mentioning countless other users who regularly visit the park for its amenities; meet for a 5K , exercise group; or attend city events like the Concert in the Park series or the annual Independence Day Celebration.

In early 2021, the city’s Recreation Board began drafting the Nisbet Park Master Plan to revitalize the park. A key part of the plan was public input. Through in-person and online surveys, the board found the public wished for new spaces within the park to support community activities.
