LOVELAND/SYMMES TWP, OH (July 29, 2020) – Blood supply continues to be in demand during the coronavirus pandemic COVID-19.

COVID-19 restrictions have caused a dramatic decline in blood supplies all across the nation. The need for blood has not declined. The Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County is joining forces with Hoxworth Blood Center for the 2020 Library Summer Blood Drive Tour.

Donating blood is an easy way to do good in the community. Blood donation is a safe, sterile process with no risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus by donating blood. The blood drive tour will be making stops at several public library locations during the library summer blood drive.

The Library Summer Blood Drive tour is just one more effort on their part to connect Cincinnati communities to meet critical needs and resources. It is one way they are contributing to community health and well-being, especially during this challenging pandemic crisis. The library and Hoxworth need all eligible donors to schedule a donation at their earliest eligible date.

Residents of Symmes Township & Loveland can donate during the Summer Blood Drive tour stop at either of those two Public Library Branch locations between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 7.

“Hoxworth is the only steward of the blood supply here in the Cincinnati area—and as such, we rely on the partnerships of local organizations to help us collect much needed blood products,” said Cara Nicolas, Associate Director of Public Relations at Hoxworth Blood Center. “Summer tends to be one of the hardest periods for blood banks across the country, as usage increases but donor turnout falls, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only created additional complications for organizations like Hoxworth. We are immensely grateful to the Public Library for hosting these truly lifesaving blood drives with us this summer.”
