Loveland Valentine Poetry Special – 2nd grade winner

LOVELAND, OH (February 14, 2026) – The first in a 8-part Poet’s Corner Loveland Valentine special edition.

This poem is written by second-grade student at Loveland Primary School, Gavin Rust. His teacher read his poem for the guests at the Valentine Breakfast Friday, February 12^th. Sadly, Gavin was ill and unable to recite his own winning poem at the Valentine’s Breakfast, thus his photo is unavailable for this feature as well. His poem has been selected as the first for this special 8-part series because it is most certainly love-inspiring and appropriate for this Valentine’s Day edition.

His teacher shared the story of Gavin’s inspiration for ‘Beautiful Butterfly’. He told her the inspiration for this wonderful poem is “the girl who sits next to me in class”.

You’re as beautiful as a butterfly

You’re as funny as a beetle

You’re as pretty as a ladybug

You’re as a creative as a spider

You’re my love bug
