Today’s “Poets Corner” is Susan F. Adams taking a look inside…herself? Maybe.
Here’s what she shared about the story behind today’s Featured Poem:
“Be Ye Perfect”
“Be Ye Perfect – Matthew 5:48 from the Bible. In one of the classes I attended, the last thing the teacher said was: “Woe be to the perfectionist!”
In grade school, I remember being taught to “Strive to be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect.”
My father was the most rigid perfectionist I ever knew. On the day he died, he had gathered numerous twigs into perfect bundles all over the yard from his thirty-three trees – that he loved.
The last part of this poem refers to the words of Yul Brenner in The King and I: “It’s a puzzlement!” – Susan F. Adams
