Anonymous donor settles ‘past due” accounts for dozens of customers

LOVELAND, OH  (December 17, 2020) –  With only 8 days until Christmas, Loveland City Manager David Kennedy today announced a donor paid off multiple past due Loveland water accounts.

Kennedy shared the information in an email message sent this afternoon, Thursday, December 17. The total donation was $7,000 and brought up to date approximately 28 past due water accounts. While the message made it clear the donor wished to remain anonymous, he also wanted the story told in hopes others may be inspired to help.

“I realize this is difficult to report due to the anonymity of the action,” said Kennedy via email. “I would prefer not to discuss the individual recipients. Either way, a very genereous action; one that I have not seen in over 36 years of government employment.”

Once again, in this season of giving, we are witnessing the goodness of the community where we live, work and play together. 2020 has presented unforseen challenges for all of us, but at every turn, we have seen the community step up to help one another. We’ve seen organizations, like NEST, and LIFE Food Pantry stepping up to help students and families during the pandemic shutdown of schools, classrooms, and especially lunch rooms. We’ve seen our Loveland City Administration turn over every stone to find ways to help businesses, and restaurants survive, and keep employees working during all the different challenges of safety protocols and shutdowns. No, 2020 has not been anything we would call normal, but in Loveland, Ohio and neighboring communities, people have stepped up, reached out, and given in any way they could to help one another. Today we learned of this anonymous donor paying $7,000 toward past due water accounts for others in need. It is just one more example of far too many to count showing how our community and others like us stand up for one another in times of greatest need.

So, as Loveland City Manager David Kennedy said in closing a very special email message,

“To ALL OF YOU, Have a Wonderful Christmas!”
