LOVELAND, OH (September 26, 2022) – In Issue 2022-171 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, we learn what may be a surprise to most of us which “Cop Show” is the longest running in U.S. Prime Time TV history.

The longest running US TV primetime police drama in the last century aired its first episode on September 26, 1968.

Hawaii Five-O.  One never knew that there were so many crooks in Hawaii to be caught by Five-O.

Set in Honolulu, Steve McGarrett, played by Jack Lord, and his crew got the bad guys weekly on CBS, until 1980 when the show closed.   The show’s iconic theme song and beginning sequence will be remembered by most old enough to have seen the show.

The 2010 remake on CBS was also quite successful and it aired for 10 years.  A new wrinkle was that the new show used the number 0 in place of the capital letter O in the title.   I’m sure everyone caught that…
