LOVELAND, OH (February 12, 2021) – In Issue 2021-29 of Steve Kovacs Fun with Maps, we look at ancient Japan and her Emperor

Who is that man? President Abe Lincoln. (File photo)

Who is he?

He left his parental home at age 17.

He was a small businessman and he also worked on a ferry.

He was a Postmaster.

He hardly had any formal education, yet he became a lawyer (insert lawyer jokes…).

He held a patent.

He fought as a soldier against Indians (Black Hawk War).

He backed out of a wedding.

He was born into simple rural means, and he eventually married a rich city woman.

Name that man?

The son of Hodgenville, Kentucky – your 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.  Today is his birthday (1809).

Mitchell’s 1850 map of Kentucky is presented here.
