NEWS RELEASE: Cara Nicolas, Associate Director

CINCINNATI, OH (November 20, 2020) – 365 Never Ending Fight, a local non-profit focused on mentorship, education, and awareness of Sickle Cell Anemia, is hosting a blood drive to boost the local blood supply in addition to providing sickle cell resources to the community.

The blood drive will be held on Tuesday, November 24th from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the 365 Never Ending Fight headquarters, located at 1717 Section Road in Cincinnati, OH.

“It is extremely inspiring to see the work and the impact that organizations like 365 Never Ending Fight have on our community,” said Jackie Marschall, spokesperson for Hoxworth. “Sickle cell anemia affects many individuals in the Greater Cincinnati area, so raising awareness and working with organizations like 365 Never Ending Fight to provide resources and education is something that we are very excited to be a part of.”

Individuals with sickle cell anemia often need monthly transfusions to replace the affected red blood cells, that are shaped like “sickles” or crescent moons instead of being round and flexible. Without treatment, sickle cell patients can experience fatigue, pain crises, and even strokes.

365 Never Ending Fight is a 501c3 non-profit organization and will also be hosting a fundraiser during the blood drive. If you’re unable to donate blood, you can show your support with a monetary donation (CashApp $365NEFfoundation).

DeAngelo Simmons, the founder of 365 Never Ending Fight, said, “I decided to start 365 NEF to be that example to the children that are coming from where I have been. I realize that some of the struggles that I had experienced could have been avoided, had I had a person in my life that I could relate to. My mission is to make sure that no child suffers needlessly because of a lack of information about this disease.”

URGENT NEED: Hoxworth Blood Center has made an

emergency appeal for blood donors.

“Anyone who is eligible to give blood or platelets is urged to donate as soon as possible. Type O inventory is at a critical level; however, we are encouraging donors of all blood types as inventory across the board is limited. Before giving thanks this holiday – we ask that you give a blood or platelet donation.” – Alecia Lipton, Hoxworth Blood Centers Spokesperson
